Michigan trip!!!

Sorry this post is going to be long but this is also for our "record" and I don't want to forget anything. We made a quick trip to Michigan in the Middle of February for Garrett's Sweet Grandpa's funeral. We were so blessed to be able to go and be at the funeral. It was so nice to meet so many people that I have heard stories about and could finally put names with faces. The kids and I finally got to meet Garrett's mom's parents. Seriously the sweetest people ever and for some reason we forgot to take pictures. We stayed with Garrett's aunt Patty and Uncle Ken. Brecken loved their dog and gave her treats every night. We also got to see more of garrett's aunts and uncles that the kids and I hadn't met yet. Brecken got to see his most favorite people in the world probably and that is who he knows the most and is closest to and that is garrett's cousins Wes and Alex. He was in Heaven and we are so glad they were able to make it. The thing about those boys is there family wasn't going to come. You see their Dad has been out of work for quite a few months so just Jason(Garrett's uncle) was going to come. Then on Thursday night there was a knock at there door with a Large sum of money in it from their ward. Then on Friday night they got another knock at their door with another large sum of money. People from their neighborhood and ward got together enough money for food and gas for a ford pickup to make the 26 hour drive to michigan. Amazing! The Lord blesses us in many ways. We had some tender mercies that happened on our trip. We had to make a 3 hour drive to sacramento then take two different planes to get to Michigan and then another hour car drive. On the way home the flights were alot longer one leg being 5 hours. Needless to say we were hoping for the best but our kids are not the best travelers. But seriously our kids were gems to say the least. They were perfect, actually beyond perfect. Even with the 3 hour time change and all of us getting sick with temps of 103 they did amazing. Garrett had the patience of a saint on the plane ride because seriously I was that sick I could hardly function and I had a slight melt down on the plane.

The funeral was amazing and it was a great reflection on Don's life and just a few of the amazing things that he did. One of garrett's uncle got up and told a story about a family that they took Christmas presents to anonymously. You know that kind you drop the presents on the front steps and then ring the door bell and ditch all the presents. The family didn't have much and they wanted them to have a good christmas. He just basically was saying that this is what don did. He was selfless. Then they turned the time over to family and friends who wanted to say something they could. This man gets up and says let me tell you about that Christmas. He was the man that Don and his family had given the presents to. It was amazing to say the least. There were several stories that I never had heard before and it gave me even greater respect for the man that Don Pierson Sr. is. He was truly a man a god and loved by so many people. I am so grateful that I got to know him and be part of his life on this earth even if it was just for a short while. We know we will see him again.

Here are some pictures of our trip. Addi walking in downtown Chelsea.
