Elko Visit

This is my (Garrett) first attempt to post on our family blog...wish me luck.

Over the Easter weekend we decided to take a road trip to Elko to check things out. I had Friday off for Good Friday, so I took a vacation day Thursday and we loaded up!

We left Wednesday night after Tashina got off work and drove to Sacramento, then got up Thursday and drove to Elko. We spend Thursday afternoon and all day Friday exploring and looking at different house floor plans from the builder we will probably go with.We then loaded up to head home Saturday and made a stop at Cabella's outside Reno for lunch and a break from the car.

We are probably going to build a house in Spring Creek, which sits about 20 minutes south of Elko. But you get a bigger house, a bigger lot, and a better view for the same if not less money than what you can get in Elko. Here is the view as you come into Spring Creek. These mountains are almost completely hidden from view from Elko, but can be see everywhere you go in Spring Creek.
Spring Creek is a cool rural community. They have a small lake that residents can fish in with out a fishing licence. Spring creek also has a "Horse Palace" we didn't go there, a trap/skeet shooting range, and a golf course. This is the small lake with its playground. You can also swim in the lake! Also has tons of picnic tables and BBQ's/
This is the view from one of the houses we looked at, there are lots actually closer to the mountains as well. We were just looking at floor plans. When we finally get something official about the move we will start the process. We'll get to pick our own lot!!! Hopefully close to the mountains.
This is in Lamoille Canyon, which is only about 5 mins from Spring Creek. Its similar to something like the Cotton Wood canyons in Utah. The road was closed a little ways up from the winter. There was about 4-5 trucks with snowmobile trailers!! Lots of hiking, camping, snowmobile, dirt bike, and mountain biking up here.

This was an AWESOME park in Elko. It was huge!!! We all played there Friday afternoon for awhile.
Over all we really liked both Elko and Spring Creek and can't wait for something official so we can get some things rolling for the move. I have been told I am going, but it is all dependent on when the new plant will be completed. Hopefully heading into the summer things will start to move along faster.

The Cabella's just outside of Reno. A perfect halfway stop. The kids loved looking at all the animals, and the fish in the "stream" and aquirum. They also had a cool little shooting gallery for them!
